I’m so happy you’re taking the time to get to know me. I am a former resident of the North Hill in Stillwater. I now reside in May Township with my wife, Lonnie, my son, Guy, and two super mutts, Darwin and Turbo.
I’ve been involved in DFL politics since the moment we invaded Iraq. I’ll never forget how inspired I was by Paul Wellstone and his opposition to that war. I have degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Minnesota. The combination of those two disciplines allowed me to be an effective communications consultant for many years, having worked on city-wide campaigns in Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as state-wide issues.
I derive an incredible amount of satisfaction working with my hands and now own and operate a business that repairs boats and converts vans into campers. Owning a small-business allows me to be active in my local Chamber of Commerce and I just love the connections I’ve made there over the years. This district is bursting with entrepreneurship! We’re so lucky to have such an open-minded, progressive business culture here in the valley.
On the river is where you find me all summer long. We paddle or take our pontoon out every single chance we get. To have one of the most pristine rivers in the world in our district is an amazing thing. I promise you that the watersheds that create the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers will have a fierce advocate at the Capitol.
I pride myself on being accessible. Call, text, or write me, I’d love to hear what issues concern you.
Joe
